In this section we learn about the people who brought that Ambassador Super Cinema to life.  The Ambassador Super Cinema wasn't just a building—it was brought to life by the people who designed, built, managed, and performed within its walls. From architect John Knight’s grand vision to the dedicated staff who kept the venue running, each person played a part in shaping its legacy. This page celebrates those individuals, from the first manager, John Howard, to the performers who graced its stage, and the many behind-the-scenes figures who made the Ambassador a cherished part of the community.

The Owners

    The ownership of the Ambassador evolved over the years, but one consistent presence throughout its time as a cinema/theatre was the Snape family.  It began with Alfred Snape, one of the founding partners, and continued under the stewardship of his son, Brian Snape, until it was sold to Mecca in 1964.
